While inspecting it I noticed the battery contacts where very corroded but the Gameboy was complete albeit very dirty likely from years of use and the lack of the previous owner taking good care of it.

- Hello, while soldering some wires to the small side power board of the gameboy original, i did a short circuit accidentally between ground and the dmg pins (pins 2 & 3) of the side board, although batteries were removed, it had stored power, since then the gameboy works, but screen is full of squares and corrupted display, tried the backlit screen on another gameboy, it works fine, so iam left.

Hey guys! So I have an old Gameboy Pocket I whipped out for the first time in a while and I plugged the cartridge in. The Nintendo logo appeared fine and the normal ping happened but then the screen would just go blank. I did standard procedure and blew out the cartridge and it still didn't work. I then realised that the contrast wasn't working after the Nintendo logo disappeared from the screen yet it would work when the Nintendo logo would be descending. Help pls?
It might also be worth mentioning that with only one game (Tetris Plus) there would just be static sound after the Nintendo logo descended and also the contrast would work.
In addition, all the cartridges worked just fine when I plugged them into my GBA SP

I play at the DMG level (usually), but can never advance past it because as soon as I get to DMG I'm no longer good enough to carry and it's entirely team lotto. MGE is kind of similar. When you are lem/Supreme, dmg is easy mode yeah. Not saying dmg is noob rank. It's the first rank becomimg a good player. Anything under dmg is bad:) you dont know. Theres still Global Elites that suck ♥♥♥ in my opinion and should be at DMG. Im fed up carrying silvers in GE. I'm talking about people that use the system correctly. LEM here, i consider DMG to be the above-average rank while MGE is the average one. Nowadays every player is getting better and better at the game because every needed guide is two-clicks away.
